Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
If you are working in construction and paying sub-contractors to do construction work, you must register as a contractor.
Once registered as a contractor you have HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) responsibilities.
We can support you with your current construction business or help you set up as a contractor. As experienced accountants we fully understand the intricacies of CIS regulations. We’ll ensure that your deductions, payments, and reporting are accurate and timely, helping you avoid costly penalties.
The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) was set up by HMRC to ensure subcontractors do not evade tax within the UK construction industry and to protect them from false employment.
Whatever your company status, sole trader, partnership, or limited company, you must register for CIS before you employ your first subcontractor.
Don’t let the complexities of the Construction Industry Scheme slow you down. At Accounts and Tax made Easy we’ll ensure your business remains compliant and financially efficient.
Take the hassle out of CIS Compliance. Accounts and Tax Made Easy specialise in CIS Construction. We’ll handle everything for you, giving you complete peace of mind.
Construction Industry Scheme – Verify Sub-contractors
Prior to paying new sub-contractors you must verify them with HMRC.
HMRC will confirm if they are registered as a sub-contractor and what rate of deduction to use or pay without deductions (Gross status). This must be done for each sub-contractor at least every 2 years.
When coming onboard we will re-verify your current sub-contractors to ensure deductions are correct. Once onboard we will complete this on each new sub-contractor included in your service.
Registering your Company Taxes
We can provide a service to register your company for Self-Employment, VAT, CIS or PAYE if required.
Costs starting from £75 + VAT.
Construction Industry Scheme – Monthly Returns
We can file your monthly HMRC return for your sub-contractors every month and easily email your sub-contractors their statement of payment & deduction.
As a contractor, you must give all sub-contractors statements within 14 days of the end of each tax month – 19th of each month.
Costs start from £75 per month + VAT.
